July is national Park and Recreation Month. Grab your dog, your friend, or your family and head out to experience all the wonderful aspects of parks and recreation.
There is nothing more wonderful than enjoying the outdoors. Unplugging from electronic devices and putting on a pair of tennis or hiking shoes is truly worth it. We are so fortunate that we are surrounded by National Parks in the United States. These amazing masses of land are filled with beauty and serenity.

This post on National Park and Recreation Month is brought to you by National Parks and Recreation and America’s Family Network, who compensated me for my time. Opinions and experiences shared here are all my own, and I hope you enjoy them.
If you like contests and prizes (who doesn’t like those things) then grab your camera and take part in the National Parks and Rec Social Media Campaign. Simply answer the question, “I Love my Parks and Recreation Because…” on a blank social media poster that can be filled in and shared, and a fun month-long weekly photo contest that encourages everyone to show and share the LOVE for local parks! The NRPA website includes information on all of the above initiatives, free downloadable resources as well as a calendar of events scheduled nationwide.
Nationwide, recreation departments have organized events and activities to help families spend quality time together, enjoy nature and get active. This provides a great opportunity to not only make the most of the beautiful weather, but also to take a stand against the obesity epidemic and technology trends that consistently keep more kids indoors and living less active lifestyles.
Ease the summer blues and fighting and get out of the house today! Don’t you remember your summers in the lake swimming, days on the river catching tadpoles or lizards, hours spent exploring the woods, and countless nights roasting marshmallows? Create those same memories with and for your family. Head outside today!

We have enjoyed several local parks this summer while we were Geocaching as a family. We have explored some incredibly beautiful areas that would have remained a secret to us without the desire to get out and find geocache treasures. I love creating new memories with my children that are void of screen time and full of energy, exploring, and good old fashioned fun.
Visiting your local Parks and Recreation facilities is a fantastic way to have fun this summer without breaking the bank. Take a cooler with food from home and you could end up paying nothing for priceless memories!

We love going to our national parks. They offer so much and there’s always so much to do.
Fantastic idea, just have to figure out if we can get out of the city for a trip upstate or just head to Statue of Liberty park which just opened again.
I try to take the kids to the park on a regular basis, they love being outside!
I love getting my little ones out to enjoy our local parks. They get so excited and always have a blast. It’s always impossible to leave. 🙂
Oh, how fun! I’m definitely going to have to do this. We love all of our National parks here in Missouri.
