Making patriotic strawberries is incredibly easy! These are the perfect little treat for Independence Day which is only a few weeks away. You can never go wrong with red, white, and blue!
Required Materials to Make Patriotic Strawberries
- Strawberries (washed)
- Almond Bark (vanilla) or white candy melts
- Blue sprinkles/sanding sugar
- Microwave safe bowl
- Microwave
- Spoon or Spatula
- Waxed paper
What is Almond Bark?
Almond Bark is a vanilla flavored candy coating. You could purchase Wilton White Candy Melts but they end up being more expensive than purchasing Almond Bark from the baking aisle of the grocery store. I tend to purchase a few packages of Almond Bark after Christmas when it is on clearance. The shelf life is long, so it is perfectly OK for it to sit unopened in your pantry until it expires.
Make Patriotic Strawberries
Melt a square or two of the almond bark in the microwave while following the directions on the package.
Once the almond bark has melted, dip 2/3 of the washed strawberry.
Immediately dip 1/3 of the white almond bark into the candy sprinkles or blue sanding sugar.
Place on waxed paper and allow to harden.
You may discover that you have more melted almond bark than you do strawberries. I recommend stirring some mini-pretzels in to the mixture, laying them on the waxed paper, and letting them cool. This is one of our favorite treats! We didn’t have any mini-pretzels on hand the day we made Patriotic Strawberries so we used raisins instead.
This is a great way to use leftovers and to make a super tasty treat!
