We live in a world where there is constantly a threat to overdo holidays. There are those that like simplicity and those who like to make memories. I am definitely in the Making Memories camp. We have a few St. Patrick’s Day Traditions that have stuck around over the years. Leprechaun gifts on St. Patrick’s morning are something my girls talk about throughout the year. Don’t worry, we keep St. Patrick’s Day fairly simple, and you can too.
In 2014 the girls awoke to find a box of Lucky Charms on the kitchen table. They pretty much only get Lucky Charms on St. Patrick’s Day….so this is a BIG DEAL to them! Around the cereal was a circle of green construction paper hearts with Starburst on them. In the middle of the circle was green Mike & Ikes. Green shamrock glitter was sprinkled on the table as well. My burlap shamrock table runner was perfect for the table!
In 2013 the Leprechaun left footprints on the table (using Crayola Paint). In the center of the table was a circle that had quarters (approximately 8, so $1.00 each girl) and Fruit Loops. Gold glitter was on the table. From the chandelier there was curly ribbon and on each of the chairs was a green piece of felt. That year the Leprechaun also made the milk green (the girls really didn’t drink it – it was out of their comfort zone), and I made green pancakes.
You can see that with a few supplies that you may already have around the house you can make a little St. Patrick’s Day morning magic!
