Sometimes crafting is all about frugality and creativity. We opened up our pantry the other day, grabbed a paper bag and created Paper Bag Houses. We put all three of our houses together and we made a Valentine’s Village.
To make this craft all we used was a brown paper bag, construction paper, glue, and crayons. We turned the bag upside down and glued the brown paper onto the fold of the bag. We experimented with scalloped edges. A brown rectangle became the door. Add another splash of color and give your paper bag house a red chimney.
To give this craft a Valentine’s Day feel draw hearts in flowers, on the roof, as the handle to the door, or decorations on the house. The girls wanted to use candy hearts to decorate their houses, but we didn’t have any at the time. That would have been a very cute addition!
Then grab some figurines from around the house and play with your new Valentine’s Day Village! We used Calico Critters and had a tea party on the pretend grass.
